Client
Seattle Antiques Market is a large retail outlet on Seattle's waterfront that specializes in antique furniture and collectibles.
Objective
Seattle Antiques Market changes its inventory quite regularly so the client wanted us to create a website showcasing the variety of products sold at the store, giving a feeling of change and encouraging people to come in and have a look for themselves. Also, since the store is somewhat tucked away it was important that the website give the user some idea of what they were actually looking for when searching for the store's location.
Result
We took over 200 pictures at Seattle Antiques Market in order to give us a wide variety of shots to choose from. For the background of each page we chose a picture that showed a different area of the store and removed most of the color to give each page an antique-toned watermark. We cropped several of the other pictures so that order would be minimized, showing half of a wardrobe and half of a kitchen table instead of either of these pieces as a whole. We put these pictures into a rotating slideshow on each page allowing the viewer to see each picture just long enough to see what kind of things were being offered, but not long enough for someone to get too attached to any particular piece. Lastly, the store recently had a new sign painted above the entrance to increase visibility. We took several pictures of the exterior and actually made the sign the top banner on each page, making the website truly feel like an extension of the store.
